frivolous pursuit

Every life curtails its death

Hiding in the shade

Lurking hind the sulky oaks

Of promises unmade

Hubris in the twilight

When the phantoms come to daance

Cowardly, escaping

From the moonlight to the sand

Boats appear a‘coasting

Bringing bodies to the beach

While the king of princes celebrates

Below and beyond reach

When sunrise rests upon the hill

The shadow follows suit

They leave the deepest depths in man

In frivolous pursuit
